Shisha & hookah
by El Badia
The Hose Marrakech XL is a 220cm shisha hose by El Badia that lets you pass the mouthpiece around a full circle of friends without anyone having to stand up, lean awkwardly, or drag the hookah across the table. At over two metres long, it's one of the best shisha hoses for group smoking — long enough to reach every corner of the sofa, the balcony chair, or the picnic blanket.
The Hose Marrakech XL comes in five variants — all identical in length, material, and connector size. It's purely an aesthetic choice, so match it to your hookah or your living room:
| Variant | SKU |
|---|---|
| Badia Blue | HS1739 |
| Badia White | HS1741 |
| Badia Red | HS1738 |
| Badia Black | HS1737 |
| Badia Carbon | HS1740 |
The Carbon finish has a slightly textured, matte look — the rest are smooth. Black and Carbon are the most forgiving if you're worried about staining over time. White looks sharp out of the box but shows residue faster, so you'll want to rinse it more often.
Here's exactly what you're getting — no surprises, no guesswork.

Standard shisha hoses run about 150-170cm. That's fine if you're smoking alone or sitting right next to the hookah. The moment you've got 3 or 4 people around a table, though, a short hose turns into a logistical headache. Someone has to hold the hookah steady while the person across the table stretches. The hookah gets dragged to the edge. Water spills. We've seen it happen more times than we can count.
The extra 50-70cm on the Marrakech XL sounds modest on paper, but in practice it's the difference between a relaxed pass and an awkward reach. At 220cm, you can comfortably hand the mouthpiece to someone two seats away. Nobody moves, the hookah stays planted, and the session flows the way it should. It's one of those upgrades that seems small until you've used it — then you can't go back.
The other thing worth mentioning: no metal parts inside the hose. Older shisha hoses often had a metal coil running through the tubing for structure. The problem is that coil rusts over time, especially if you don't dry the hose properly. Rust flakes end up in your smoke, the draw gets restricted, and the whole thing starts tasting off after a few months. El Badia skipped the metal entirely on the Marrakech 3.0 series, which means you can rinse the hose with warm water after every session without worrying about corrosion. Hygiene stays solid, the draw stays open, and the hose lasts longer.
A 220cm hose is brilliant for groups, but if you mostly smoke solo at a desk, it's more hose than you need. You'll end up coiling the excess, which can kink the tubing over time if you're not careful. For solo sessions, a standard-length hose is more practical — less tubing to manage, less weight hanging off the hookah port.
The mouthpiece is comfortable and the grip feels solid in the hand — there's a slight taper that sits naturally between your fingers. But the connector end is a standard friction fit, not a click-lock. That means it can slip out of the hookah port if someone gives the hose a proper tug. Just seat it firmly before you start and you're fine, but it's worth knowing.
We've been stocking El Badia gear for a while now, and the Marrakech series is their strongest line for everyday use. The 3.0 revision specifically addressed the two biggest complaints about shisha hoses: rust and cleaning difficulty. By ditching the internal metal coil entirely, they've made a hose you can actually maintain without it falling apart after 6 months. The 220cm length on the XL version was clearly designed with group sessions in mind — and having passed one around a table of 5 people, we can confirm it reaches comfortably without anyone having to shift the hookah.
If you're choosing between the standard Marrakech and the XL, the question is simple: do you smoke with other people regularly? If yes, get the XL. The extra length costs you nothing in draw quality and saves you the hassle of a too-short hose. Compared to generic 220cm hoses you'll find elsewhere, the El Badia version feels noticeably more durable — the tubing has a bit more body to it, and the mouthpiece doesn't feel like an afterthought.
Barely. The internal diameter on the Marrakech XL is wide enough that the extra 50-70cm over a standard hose doesn't create noticeable resistance. You might need a slightly harder initial pull to get things going, but once the smoke is flowing, it draws smoothly.
Stick to warm water only. Soap residue can cling to the interior walls and taint the flavour of your next session. If you want a deeper clean, a small amount of lemon juice in warm water works well — rinse thoroughly afterwards and hang to dry.
The Marrakech XL uses a standard friction-fit connector that works with most hookahs. If your hookah port is slightly wider or narrower, you can use a rubber grommet adapter to get a snug seal. Most hookahs come with a spare grommet for exactly this reason.
With regular rinsing and proper storage, expect 12-18 months of solid use before the tubing starts to soften. Heavy daily smokers might replace it sooner. The lack of metal parts means rust won't be what kills it — general wear on the tubing is the limiting factor.
It works, but you'll have excess hose to manage. For solo use, a standard 150-170cm hose is more practical. The XL really shines when you're passing it around a group — that's where the extra length earns its keep.
Black is a smooth, glossy finish. Carbon has a textured, matte look that mimics carbon fibre. Functionally identical — it's purely down to which aesthetic you prefer. Carbon tends to show fingerprints less.
Yes to both. Just be aware that strong flavours like double apple or mint can linger in the tubing. If you switch flavours often, rinse thoroughly between sessions. Some people keep a dedicated hose for their strongest flavour to avoid ghost tastes.
